Lasercut Works

Project Scope: Blog

At Lasercut Works we love seeing how laser cutting is incorporated into different areas of design  and seeing that the technique is fast becoming a popular trend infiltrating key looks in fashion. We’ve compiled some of our favourite laser cut pieces from the recent A/W London Fashion Week 2016 that was held at various venues from 19-23rd February.

At the FAD charity event that was held at Freemasons’ Hall as part of London Fashion Week 2016, new and emerging designers were given the opportunity to present their original designs. Here at Lasercut Works we particularly liked the work of runner-up Alice Potts, from Norwich University of the Arts who used laser cutting to create her textured tops and geometric shapes in structured leather.

The striking monochrome pieces of Holly Fulton’s A/W 2016, that were inspired by surrealist art, were shown at Brewer Street Car Park. Skirts and dresses were adorned with laser cut organza.

Julien MacDonald was all about the metallics in the A/W 2016 London Fashion Week with pieces featuring cut out motifs. The collection used gold, black and silver metallic hues, evoking thoughts of body armour using chains and laser cut components.

Warha Sleem of Fashion DNA Pakistan Presents showcased bold pieces with a trippy 70s feel. We particularly like this lime green mini dress (right) which has been laser cut with a geometric pattern.

Manuel Facchini showcased his collection at Carlton House Terrace, London. The collection heavily featured delicate elements of laser cut leather making for very wearable fashion.

We hope laser cutting continues to feature throughout fashion both on the catwalk and on the high street and look forward to seeing even more laser cutting and engraving in London Fashion Week S/S 2017!
